Pop Art Icons - Audrey Hepburn

The legendary Audrey Hepburn is still remains one of the most famous actresses of all time, she's remembered as both a film and fashion icon. Audrey dreamed of becoming a ballerina since childhood but was rendered psychially incapeable, instead she took modelling jobs and eventually found herself in front of a motion picture camera. Within 3 years the whole world came to know Audery as Princess Anne in Roman Holiday and that is how we came to know her and still in love with her today.

After her performance in Roman Holiday Audrey was catapulted into the limelight, she won the 1954 Oscar for best actress after only her first motion picture. After winning the Oscar in 1954 Audrey found her acting career in full bloom and her image was sought after. After the huge response from the public and press Audrey found herself in a position of being able to work with many of the finest directors of that time. 

In 1961 Audrey began work on Blake Edward's Breakfast at Tiffany's, often considered as one of Hepburn's most defining roles as Holly Golightly her high fashion stlye and sophistication became synonymous with her. After nearly 50 years later, Audrey still remains the irrefutable icon of both.

In 1988, Audrey accepted what she considered her greatest role as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. Audrey traveled to over 20 countries reporting what she found to world leaders, governments and the international media. Audrey's work has served to inspire many others to reach out and commit their time to improving the lives of children around the world. 

Towards the end of 1992, Audrey completed her last mission for UNICEF and was eventually diagnosed with cancer. Audrey gracefully slipped away on January 20th 1993.


Her fame has seen a resurgence in recent years, and all manner of pop art images have been made in celebration of her life.
